Nearly Zumbahua you will find Tigua, a small town with a community dedicated to produce paintings “naïf” not in its traditional base but in sheep’s skin dry. These paintings are very colorful, and represent the land and customs of the people who live in the region Quilotoa. Olga Fish, German resident in Ecuador, discovered the abilities of these people and encouraged them to paint in both traditional and new materials. After Tigua rustic you will see a sign pointing in the direction of the Quilotoa lagoon. This gap is in the crater of the volcano of the same name to 14km of Zumbahua. In twenty minutes will be on the edge of the crater lake. The word comes from Quilotoa Quichua of the words “quiru” = tooth and “toa” due to the shape of the lagoon.
